SKR Funding Rate Sinks Deep Into Negative Territory
Traders betting against SKR paid steep ongoing fees to hold their positions over a ten-minute window. This persistent imbalance highlights heavy crowd pressure betting on a price drop.

Imagine SKR is trading at just over two cents ($0.0238). Suddenly, a massive wave of traders rushes in to bet that the price is about to fall. The market becomes heavily tilted to one side as downside bets overwhelm buyers.
Across ten consecutive minutes, alerts showed the fee rate staying deeply negative, between -0.135% and -0.121%. Even as SKR price hovered around $0.0237, traders were willing to pay this steep continuous penalty just to stay in their trades.
In crypto contract markets, contracts do not expire. To keep contract prices tethered to spot prices, the popular side pays the unpopular side a regular fee called the funding rate. When it is negative, sellers are paying cash directly to buyers.
Think of it like sitting in a taxi with the meter running fast. Every minute traders keep these downside bets open, money drains from their balances. Unless the price drops quickly to deliver profits, the cost of holding the bet eats away at their gains.
A single spike can be an isolated event, but ten alerts in ten minutes show stubborn, persistent crowding. When so many traders pile into the same trade and pay high rent, the market becomes loaded with tension.
This metric does not tell you where price will go next. Strong selling pressure could drive SKR down further, or a minor upward bounce could panic short sellers into closing their positions, fueling a sudden rally. It signals tension, not direction.
Don't think: Negative funding guarantees a price bounce because sellers are losing money. Think: Downside bets are crowded and paying high rent, increasing the likelihood of sharp, volatile moves in either direction.
